Corrosion Performance of Electrodeposited Zinc and Zinc-Alloy Coatings in Marine Environment

Electrodeposited zinc and zinc-alloy coatings have been extensively used in a wide variety of applications such as transport, automotive, marine, aerospace owing to their good corrosion resistance the potential be economically competitive. As consequence, these become industry choice for many protect carbon low alloy steels against degradation upon exposure different corrosive environments industrial, coastal, etc. Significant works on electrodeposition Zn, Zn-alloys composites from conventional chloride, sulfate, aqueous non-aqueous electrolyte media progressed over past decade. This paper provides review covering performance electrodeposited Zn-alloy composite with coating properties that developed decade employing low-toxic halide-free media. The influence additives, nano-particle addition morphology, texture relation additional functionalities are reviewed detail. In addition, covers recent developments along cost considerations future scope Zn coatings.
